Utah Vouchers (Referendum 1) – Simplified

CactusI’m a man of few words, so I like to keep things simple. This whole Utah vouchers thing is about money and how you feel about it depends on whether you will be getting paid or paying more as a result. The way I see it, voters can be bundled into 3 categories, those with;

  1. kids in public schools
  2. kids in private schools
  3. no kids in public or private schools

(that covers everyone, right?)

Let’s look at the three categories in more detail. Into which one do you fit?
1. I have kids in public schools – The vouchers program will eventually be taking money from me because taxes will need to be increased to cover the money that is given to private schools.
2. I have kids in private schools – The vouchers will put money directly into my pocket. That’s good for me, and bad for everyone else.
3. I have no kids in public or private schools – The vouchers program will eventually be taking money from me because taxes will need to be increased to cover the money that is given to private schools.

Some people may argue otherwise, but it really comes down to money and who’s getting/giving it.
